November Verse by Verse - Rev. Jerry Groves

1 Peter 1:4…. "To an inheritance incorruptible and undefilded, and that fadeth not away, reserved in heaven for you”…

These are the words of the Apostle Peter. This verse speaks of a coming inheritance from the heavenly Father to his children, at some point in time. The inheritance from the Father is described as incorruptible, undefiled, and unfading in nature. The logical question is….What is it? The answer is...the resurrected, glorified body that each of God’s children will one day receive. Verse 4 describes this glorified body, and lets us know that it is reserved in heaven for us. It is the heavenly Father’s gift to his children, as his inheritance to us.

Note: There are a number of Scriptures that speak of this coming inheritance to God’s children: Look them up for yourself:

See:

- Romans 8:16-17 - Philippians 3:21

- Colossians 1:12, 3:4, 3:24 - Matthew 13:43

- Acts 20:32 - 1 Peter 5:1
